Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967 at Atlanta. She belongs to an extended family of Robertses, the 4th generation that reside in the Atlanta region, beginning from her maternal grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father's passion for theatre was inherited by her. in theater from a young age. As a student at Emory University in 1952 he acted in productions on campus and in Atlanta. In 1953, he was a member of the Air Force. He was stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he appeared in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. The two married in 1955 and their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter was studying at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they had a break from the military and Walter started his education at Tulane. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the family relocated from the city of Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local kids' Saturday morning television show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they themselves funded. They founded an Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year, which lasted six years. In 1965, they welcomed two young children, Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
